Mustangs D Halts Rush


In a rematch of Ironbowl XII the Madison Mustangs Defense held the Roscoe Rush offense to 103 total yards, 3 yards rushing on 24 attempts, forced 4 INT's and sacked All-star QB Joe Cotton 6 times, 3x by former Badger James Kamoku, in a 31-7 Mustangs victory. The Mustangs offense feed off the D and capitalized on great field position. Mustangs QB David Pietrowiak was 11 for 21 passing for 164 yards and added a pair of TD's through the air and ground. The Rush tough defense did manage to hold the Mustangs to 70 yards rushing for the game lead by HB Kyle Brodd's 35 yards on 7 attempts and TD. Madison's receiving core was paced by Zak "Flash" Gordon with 4 receptions for 74 yards and Ryan Gulden's 5 receptions for 49 yards. But the story of the game was the Mustangs D lead by OLB Ryan Mayer, 3 tackles, a sack, a pass defense and a safety, and CB Jim Gordon's 6 tackles, 3 solos, and a TFL. Mustangs Kicker Jason Epps added 3 FG's of 31, 37, and 49 yards. This week, June 27th, Madison will travel to Greendale to face the up-and-coming Panthers.
