Mustangs secure radio and TV deal for 2010
The Madison Mustangs have secured a new deal with ESPN Radio Madison 100.5 for the 2nd consecutive season. The deal includes live home game broadcasts, when not conflicting with Madison Mallards (minor league baseball). If there is a conflict, the games will be broadcast after Mallard games and rebroadcast again the following Sunday afternoon. Regardless, live radio webcasts can be heard through espnmadison.com. The deal also includes many commercials promoting the up-coming games, the "Mustang Minute", which take place between ESPN programming, recapping the prior game and previewing the up-coming game, an on-site pregame show prior to all home games with player, coach, and business sponsor interviews, the ability to promote Madison Mustang sponsors during broadcasts, and a radio commercial by ESPN Radio national show host Colin Cowheard stating the Home of the Madison Mustangs is ESPN Radio Madison . Station General Manager Ken Rovak had this to say about the partnership "as a locally owned company we are excited to continue our partnership with the Madison Mustangs – a great organization that represents the pride of our community in athletics on and off the field."
The Mustangs have also struck a deal with Madison local TV channel 14 to broadcast two live regular season games with the possibility of broadcasting a live playoff game if the two regular season broadcasts go well. The TV broadcast will also be webcasted live through channel3000.com. On-site production will be handled by When We Were Young Productions. The ability for the Mustangs to sell commercial time during these broadcasts has led to landing more business sponsors. David Sanks, channel 14 program director, said this about the new partnership "This is a terrific opportunity for both organizations. It is truly a cooperative effort between us. The partnership provides the Mustangs with publicity and exposure they would not normally get and Morgan Murphy Media has the opportunity to offer our viewers and web users another local sports event. We believe this will be successful may be the beginning of a new sports programming franchise."
Madison Mustangs owner, attorney Bob Gingras, had this to say about the partnership with ESPN Radio Madison and Ch 14, and what it means to the Mustangs and the IFL "This partnership represents a major step up for our organization. The Mustangs are proud to be associated with these premiere media entities. I am certain that this partnership will be a win-win relationship for a long time to come."
The Madison Mustangs first game of the 2010 season against the Wauwatosa Spartans will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio-Madison 100.5 and espnmadison.com, and local TV channel 14 and channel3000.com, Sat. May 22nd, kickoff at 7:00 pm.
